Hands On! Europe, Association of Children's Museum is an international professional organisation representing and advocating for its non-profit member institutions.
Membership ranges from children's museums, to large collections-based institutions dedicated to serving young visitors through a variety of interactive exhibits, to groups that are in the planning phases of opening a children's museum.
Hands on! Europe supports the important role of children's museum as centres which foster curiosity and imagination and where play inspires creativity, informal and lifelong learning.
Hands On! Europe started life in 1994 as an informal network of a few European children's museum directors interested in promoting the development of the children's museum concept in Europe.
Hands On! Europe is today a formalized and important network: it represents over 100 institutions and holds every two years an international conference which is attended by delegates from over 25 Conuntries. Hands On! Europe is an affiliated organization of ICOM (International Council of Museums) .
MUBA hosts Hands On! Europe Headquarters at its office in via Bandello 16 in Milan.
